 Dinosaur Land
VA accurately depicts the
Mesozoic Period by featuring multiple
reptiles from each of the Jurassic and
Cretaceous Periods. The Jurassic Period
is represented with the use of pteranodon
and stegosaurus. The pteranodon belonged
to the group of flying reptiles, known
as pterosaurs that existed during the
dinosaur era. The immensely long
Stegosaurus, up to about 30 feet in
length,
represents the herbivores of the period.
The Cretaceous Period is represented
with the help of the 24-foot long
triceratops. A frill along its neck
protected the herbivore’s tri-horned
head. The slender strange looking Oviraptor is noted for its meek size,
about 6 feet long, in comparison to
other dinosaurs of the Cretaceous
Period.
With your family in toe, it is a great
idea to grab a couple pictures with the
additional monstrous creatures that
scatter the park. The towering, 14 foot,
mammoth was believed to have provided
food for prehistoric men. The mammoth
looks similar to an elephant, but is
adorned with long hair and
tusks that are sometimes 12 feet long.
Also found in the park is the
twenty-foot King Cobra, and the
magnificent 60-foot shark. Bring your
