Frederick County Virginia is home to some phenomenal park and playground areas offering great recreational opportunities to residents and visitors
of the Shenandoah Valley. Both Clearbrook and Sherando Park are Frederick County Virginia Parks maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department and both have unique features like an outdoor pool, a historic red caboose, and an 18 hole disc golf course at Sherando.
The Frederick County VA Parks and Recreation Department strives to promote an
active lifestyle and provide quality spaces and programs for children and their families in the community. Building the community up through training courses
and wilderness education and offering nature opportunities, the parks and recreational department in Frederick County is outstanding and just one of the many reasons why it is great to live in Winchester, Middletown, and the many beautiful towns of the Shenandoah Valley.
Clearbrook Park
Clearbrook Park is located just five miles north of Winchester in the small community of Clearbrook. This 55 acre park includes a beautiful 3 acre lake, lighted ball fields, picnic shelters and tables, 3,000 feet of paved walking trails, paddleboats, horseshoe pits,
a playground, a 25 meter pool, volleyball court, and a historic, vintage red caboose. Fishing is also permitted here. From Winchester, drive North on Route 11 and the park is on the right.
Frederick County Neighborhood Parks
These areas are great playgrounds and open free of charge to the public. You can find these wonderful places at Reynolds Store, Round Hill, Gainesboro, and Frederick Heights.
Sherando Park
Sherando Park is nestled on 330 acres of beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain Land and offers numerous activities and recreational facilities for the whole family. Offering a five acre fishing lake, lighted ball fields, picnic shelters and tables, hiking trails, a 5 meter outdoor pool, paddleboats, an 18 hole disc golf, soccer fields, and a volleyball court.
