The Newtown History Center is located in one of the Shenandoah's loveliest towns, Stephens City Virginia. Here visitors can tour the exhibits and other educational displays on this historic wagon road city and the wagon making industry which was part of the town's economic stronghold. Here several artifacts and documents are held that preserve history and culture of those who lived and worked in the region. This neat museum is simply a great Virginia Family Attraction.

Stephens City Virginia has a very long history, which spans over two and a half centuries. The town began in the 1730's and survived the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. The town has seen both economic advancements as well as hardships, and is today an area that flourishes in the Northern Shenandoah Valley.

The Newtown History Center offers a museum as well as interpretive displays in neighboring buildings. These exhibits discuss the architectural history of the late colonial era and specific information on one of the region's oldest homes, the Stone House. Visit the Newtown History Center June through August, 10 am to 4 pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
