The weather is perfect during the summer months, as the highs are in the 80’s and the nights cool off to the 60’s. There are several campgrounds near Old Romney Grade as well. Fall is always one of the most beautiful times of the year as the trees come alive with brilliant reds, oranges and yellows when the leaves change. Be sure to bring your camera with you if you’re heading outdoors in Winchester during the autumn months.
 Another popular natural outdoor attraction is located just under an hour from Winchester
Virginia in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Shenandoah Caverns
VA are some of the most famous caverns in the world, and have been featured in National Geographic because of their unique, unusual, and breathtaking formations. The tour of the caverns is easily accessible, as there is elevator service and wide, level pathways making most of the tour easy for those in wheelchairs and parents with children in strollers. The tour takes about 1 hour to complete.
Jim Barnett Park in Winchester Virginia is a great place for families to get outside. The park features many picnic shelters in varying sizes, an exercise station focusing on stretching, aerobic exercise, and muscle toning; an outdoor pool, several different sports fields, a BMX track, a lake, a miniature golf course, and even a War Memorial Building. There seems to be no limit to the amount of activities you can enjoy at this Winchester VA park, and it’s the perfect place for families with children.
