along Skyline Drive VA.
Skyline Drive VA is a 105 mile road that runs the entire length of the Shenandoah National Park, a park in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. More than two million people drive and visit Skyline Drive VA annually and as such, this National Scenic Byway has numerous main entry points. The entrance in the northern region is in Front Royal Virginia just off of US Highway 340, and the southern entrance can be found off of Interstate 64 at Rockfish Gap. Further past Rockfish Gap, the Blue Ridge Parkway begins and continues on a similar path over the mountaintops. Other entry points to the Skyline Drive in Virginia are at Thornton Gap (US Highway 211) and Swift Run Gap (US Highway 33). Since June 2007 all vehicles entering Skyline Drive VA are asked to pay a $15 pass for a single car, or a $10 pass for motorcycles, and these passes are valid for unlimited entries within a seven-day period. Year long passes can be purchased as well for residents living near Skyline Drive; these passes are $30 and will admit one car or two motorcycles.
Skyline Drive Virginia is extremely popular in autumn as the mountain forests burst with vibrant colors of the changing leaves, so be sure to see this scenic highway in Virginia this time of year. Hiking and biking are also popular on Skyline Drive and the entry fee to the byway includes access to Skyline Drive VA and the many hiking and biking trails that lead off of the main part of the highway.
