Abram’s Delight Museum
This museum is housed in Winchester’s oldest home, the home of the Hollingsworth Family and the region’s first Quaker meeting house. The home was built in 1754 and showcases its beautiful furnishings today inside the museum including a fine collection of art and antiques from the period. Also on the site is a restored and full furnished log cabin which visitors can also tour. Open April through October, Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Adults are $5, Seniors $4.50, and Students aged 7-15 are just $2.50. Children under 6 can tour Abram’s Delight Museum for free.

Civil War Orientation Center
The Civil War Orientation Center offers information and a general overview of Winchester’s Civil War history. Featuring an interactive, touch screen kiosk visitors can explore and learn about the specific Civil War sites in Frederick County before actually touring these areas. Open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the center is open to the public free of charge.

Godfrey Miller Historic House and Fellowship Center
Renovation and restoration of this Shenandoah Valley historic home in 2003. Built in 1785 by Daniel Sowers on a lot granted to him by Lord Fairfax dated 1753, the home was purchased by John Miller in 1812 who then added a brick addition during his ownership. Today, visitors can tour the home and hear the stories that were filled in a secret diary kept by Margaretta Sperry Miller (when she was 12) from the years March 23, 1863 to September 19, 1863, and see the three birth and baptismal Frakturs for members of the Godfrey Miller Family printed by the Henkel Press of New Market, Virginia.

Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to
browse the home for free.

Handley Regional Library and Stewart Bell Archives
The Handley Library and Bell Archives houses genealogical and historical research information from the Lower Valley from 1732 to the present day. Featuring a collection of books, manuscripts, maps, photographs, newspapers, periodicals, and court records the library is also a gorgeous example of the Beaux Arts style and was designed by New York architects Stewart Barney and Henry Otis-Chapman. Located at , you can tour the library and browse the archives Tuesday and Wednesday from 1p.m. to 8p.m. and Thursday through Saturday 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. The library and archives are available to view free of charge.

Historic Long Branch
Nestled on 400 acres of Blue Ridge Mountain Land, this stunning and elegant 18th century Greek Revival Mansion has been beautifully restored and furnished with exquisite pieces from the period. Featuring a lovely garden area, perfect for weddings, this lovely mansion is the host of the Shenandoah Valley Hot Air Balloon and Wine Festival.

Mount Hebron Cemetery
Mount Hebron Cemetery is a holy place of
beauty, filled with serenity and
tradition. This burial ground in
Winchester dates back to the birth of
the town and has grave stones dating
back to the 1760’s. The land that the
cemetery rests on was donated by Lord
Fairfax and given to the local Lutheran
and German Reformed Churches. You can
find Civil War Soldiers, Generals,
Governors, Patriots, and humble citizens
from every age buried here.

Museum of the Shenandoah Valley
This great history museum features period artifacts and information on regional history and happenings. Located in the Glen Burnie Historic House, which sits on six acres of fantastically designed gardens, this beautiful museum/home features four galleries, a store, and a delightful tea room. Designed by architect Michael Graves, the 50,000
square foot home is a magnificent sight. The museum is open year around and the house and gardens can be toured March through November, Tuesday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $12 to tour the house, museum and gardens and only $8 to tour the museum only.

Old Court House Civil War Museum
Tour this 1840 courthouse building which once housed both a prison and a hospital during the Civil War. You can see the historic graffiti left by the soldiers, and the museum contains over 3,000 artifacts from the war including buttons and cannonballs.
The museum is open year around Wednesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Stonewall Jackson’s Headquarters
This 1854 Hudson River Goth Revival style home has been restored back to its full glory since its heyday as Stonewall Jackson’s headquarters. Included in the home tour is a display of Jackson’s own private prayer book and camp table.
